reGame Closing Down

Gaming focused streaming service provider reGame.tv has recently announced it will be closing it’s doors.

It’s reason for this decision is the cost to operate and the stiff competition from TwitchTV and own3D.tv

However, don’t let the “closing our doors” statement make you think that you won’t be seeing them around anymore. They have announced that they will be launching a premium invite only streaming platform that they claim will allow them to provide much higher revenue share for partners (5 EUR / CPM) as well as a better service all round. Look for reGame.tv 2.0 to launch in July. They have put up a countdown timer on their website.

Why is reGame.tv being shut down?

Why?

To be honest, it is to expensive to operate in the current state and we cannot compete with companys such as Twitch or Own3d who have more manpower and a real financial backup while reGame.tv is just a one man show, and it started to have a negative effect to our reallife. If this happens you better notice that you doing it wrong and stop doing it.

We got boycotted from the beginning with people telling streamers that we have stolen sourcecode and design, this of course was not true, we spend so many hours writing every piece of the back and frontend ourself. In addition this entitys also told broadcasters who wanted to switch to regame in the beginning that we never pay our revenue and so on, why in fact we as smallest provider in this market provided the largest revenue share for partners and always paid in a fashionable manner of time. We got the least income and paid much more then anyone else.

Because of this it did take us more then one year to get good advertising contracts which allowed us to grow. And at this stake we grown to fast which lead to technical issues which in return lead to key streamers which were important for us to switch to other services while we fixed the infastructure, this had a effect in losing important money to keep the service up and running.

However, we managed to build a awesome streaming infastructure for a price that was unmatchable by any of our competition, we learned alot while doing this and we made it with passion and all our heart. We had more then 20.000 registered users, 10k+ Videos and more then 5000 Livestreaming channels. We had a blast writing, maintaining and watching and want to say a big thank you to all people who worked with us in the last two years.

The new reGame.tv will focus on that one thing that made us strong: Awesome Support! By focusing on only a hand full broadcasters we can ensure that we will host premium quality content only. We can pay much higher revenues for all broadcasters (at least 5 EUR / CPM ) and provide outstanding support. ReGame.tv 2.0 will also be focused on this selected broadcasters content instead of being just a default livestream and video provider.

We believe that the ongoing switch from broadcasters doing it as hobby to a business also requires a change of service. With our CDN and Dashboard that we build out of the reGame infastructure within the last year we as company can provide a complete solution for content creators that fits to a modern business in the Streaming and Videomarket.
